   OK, I admit it…occasionally I eat fast food. This is mostly because the Drive-Through is so much more accessible and easy than the hassle of getting in and out of my car, waiting in line, then getting my food to a table.
   Eating parked in my car is much faster and easier but it does have its hazards…i.e. hot sauce dripping on my pants. Like most people, I would use my lap as a dining table and it got very ugly.
   So I designed this simple Steering Meal … a portable little table that hangs neatly over any steering wheel. It really works great. No more mess.And I feel so much more civilized eating at a table that is actually at the right height.
   I recruited my friend Lora to hand-make them for me. She came up with the great idea of using colorful and cleanable Mexican Oilcloth that should last forever. The oilcloth comes in many patterns and colors. The one you get may be different then the one pictured.
Now if I do get sloppy, I just wipe it clean, not my pants. When I am finished eating I fold the Steering Meal up and slip it under the car seat till next time.
