My Patented Tornado and Performance gel filled tips are hand assembled in a 12 step process using the best quaility natural rubber with only 10 % clay mixed-in, as versus 40-60% clay mixture in other major brands. Encapsulated inside each tip is a thick pad of ABSORBALITEtm shock absorbing gel polymer. Up to three times our body weight is cast upon our shoulders with each step we take. This "crutch shock" not only tires us out day to day but over the long haul it destroys cartilage, bone, tendons and nerves. Performance and Tornado tips protect us from these deleterious effects. They also provide superior traction, because the full bottom of these tips bend over and engage the ground, even at very steep crutch angles. Performance tips with their 2 3/8" base diameter will usually outwear ordinary tips 3 to 5 times over. Tornado tips have a 2" base diameter and should last 3-4 times as long as any ordinary tips. In the long run they are very cost effective, especially when factoring the protection they give our hands, wrists, arms and shoulders. I truly believe that will keep us walking longer.

Tornado GT (Gel Tip)

My patented Tornado Gel Tips have a thick shock absorbing ABSORBALITEtm  gel core. They are hand assembled in a labor intensive 12 step process using #1 quality natural latex rubber. Our formula has only 10% clay filler mixed-in as versus 40-60% filler with other major brands. We add micronized silica for durability. Two coats of bonding agent are painted onto the large 1-1/4" steel disk before being molded inside each tip so it stays centered. These attributes enable our tips to out-wear ordinary tips 3-5 times over. Their engineered pivoting action enables the full bottom of these tips to engage the ground for amazing traction, even at very steep crutch angles. Tornado GT tips have a 2" base diameter and weigh 2 ounces each. They are best suited for people who weigh less than 180 pounds. Tornado tips will out-wear ordinary tips 3 to 4 times over.

Tornado RT

These tips have all the same great qualities as our original GT series with one important difference… they have our new rain tip bonded over the tread making them over 300% more wet slip resistant than any rubber tip we have tested. They have excellent traction on dry surfaces as well. We developed this new RainTip to replace our old Rain Ring that would peel off over time. The addition of the RainTip will only increase the height of the tip by 3/16" While not slip-proof, the RainTip will greatly reduce the number and severity of crutch related falls caused by wet smooth surfaces. If they keep you from falling just once a year… wouldn't they be worth the extra cost? Personally, I won't leave home without them! Tornado RT fits crutch shafts from 3/4" to 1".

The Ergodyne Wet-Slip Testing Machine

This unique machine accurately gages the "rank order" of any crutch tip tested by pneumatically driving the crutch tip onto a smooth tile that is submerged under water. The strike force is set to constant poundage and the time of the strike is a constant one second. The angle of the mast that holds the pneumatic drive shaft is adjustable by degrees measured on a protractor. The angle of the mast is increased with each strike until the tip can no longer hold the surface of the wet tile and slips off. The degree of the angle when the tip slips is recorded and other tips are tested. With this device I have scientifically demonstrated that my Tornado and Performance RainTips are far superior to all other brands tested. They are over 300% more wet-slip resistant than any other tip on the market that we have tested!

Tornado SB (Solid Body)

This new addition to our Tornado tip family is designed for less-active crutch users who want a tip with great traction and durability at a competitive price. We make them using number one grade natural latex rubber formulated with micronized silica for extreme toughness and wear. Inside the Tornado SB there is a large 1-1/2 " diameter steel disk that is chemically bonded on both sides to the surrounding rubber body. Because there is no ABSORBALITEtm  gel inside, the Tornado SB will not protect your shoulders like its famous brother the Tornado GT. However, unlike ordinary tips, our steel disk can not be ejected through the side wall of the tip and cause premature failure. Our Tornado SB tips has a pivoting action that allows the full tread to engage the ground aggressively even at steep crutch angles. Tornado SB tips will last more than twice as long as ordinary tips making them an excellent value. Tornado SB Fits crutch shafts from 3/4" to 1".
